Welcome to EWB-NCP
Engineers Without Borders - North Coast Professional Chapter (EWB-NCP)
Here you can find news and updates for current projects, fundraising, meetings and more.
EWB-NCP is a local chapter of the national 501(c)3 organization EWB-USA focused on “supporting community-driven development programs worldwide by collaborating with local partners to design and implement sustainable engineering projects, while creating transformative experiences and responsible leaders.”
EWB-NCP Professional and Student Involvement
EWB-NCP is composed of professional engineers in Humboldt, Del Norte, Mendocino and Trinity Counties as well as students from the Environmental Resources Engineering (ERE) program at Humboldt State University (HSU). A majority of the professional members are located in Eureka, approximately ten miles south of Arcata, California; the location of HSU. Collaboration between EWB-NCP and ERE students at HSU has been an integral part of the success in evaluating and addressing community needs through assessment trips, outreach, fundraising, project development and project implementation.
We are excited to announce that the Hospital Well project continues to move forward in Camoapa, Nicaragua. EWB-NCP and the Arcata/Camoapa Sister City Commisison have currently raised $12,000 to provide clean water for the local hospital.
We've been approached by representatives of the Wiyot Tribe's Environmental Department, here in Humboldt County, and are looking forward to learning how we can get students and professionals involved in partnering with the Tribe to assist in addressing community-identified engineering needs on the Table Bluff Reservation.
